A letter from our CEO, Matthew Hansen
As the year comes to an end and Mercarik approaches its 10-year anniversary, I wanted to send a note of heartfelt thanks. I deeply appreciate every person who has worked with and trusted Mercarik over the years. Because of your partnership, Mercarik has been able to positively impact the lives of more than 6,000 individuals. We’ve had the privilege of supporting many of these people across multiple homes as they moved closer and closer to full independence. And, as is the nature of our work, we have also mourned the loss of individuals we supported. We can only hope that our time with them brought comfort, dignity, and meaningful improvement to their lives.
Mercarik was first established as a business in late December 2015. The following months were spent educating counties on the benefits of assistive technology and navigating the complex process of becoming a licensed provider through MN-DHS.
Beginning in 2016, our first individual was served and successfully funded through Anoka County with a focus on supporting individuals in group residential settings by increasing independence through environmental controls. While this remains a part of our work, new needs quickly emerged—and continue to emerge. Over time, we expanded our services and are now a leader in assessments and implementation of enabling technology devices (including remote monitoring), PERS units, home automation, automatic door openers, medication distribution technology, safety devices, adaptive equipment, sensory items, and a wide range of pass-through items that promote independence.
Today, Mercarik is a team of 22 dedicated people, each serving a vital role. We represent a wide range of talents, backgrounds, and personalities, but we share one common thread: a passion and commitment to helping people live their best life.
Every day, we strive to deepen our knowledge and broaden our offerings, especially in areas where services are still limited or unavailable. And even if we aren’t the best fit for a particular need, we want to hear about it so we can help connect individuals with other outstanding providers who can assist.
